The winners of the 2008 Walter V. Shipley Business Leadership Case Competition were:
  • First Place: Kellogg School of Business, Northwestern University
  • Second Place: Columbia Business School
  • Third Place: Darden School of Business, University of Virginia

The 2008 competition introduced a newly commissioned case study produced by the Yale School of Management that asked: how should the Environmental Defense Fund proceed with negotiations during the private equity buyout of Texas coal producer TXU? More information about this innovative, interactive case study is available here.

You are invited to view the written submissions from the three finalist school teams as they were originally submitted for Round One of the 2008 competition, as well as their presentations crafted for Round Three of the competition in New York City.
